America Eats Tavern

Finally!!! I have a computer where I can actually edit my pics a little bit and won’t crash, yayyy!  Actually this post was supposed to happen in August, but life kind of got in the way, but here it is!

Before America Eats opened I had the chance to spend some time with the chefs behind all those recipes, and they even let me snap a couple shots…..

Chicken pot pie??

So those are behind the scenes…… a few weeks after that, I went over there for dinner, and the food was as delicious as it looks in the pics so judge for yourself

Hush puppies

Crab cakes

Deconstructed key lime pie

Some things in the menu have changed since I was there, so…… I guess I have to go back and update this post soon :)

Graffiato by Mike Isabella

I have to say I didn’t really want to go to this place at first,  but after several reviews of close friends who I absolutely trust in food matters,  (of course they told me about the bone marrow and bacon in the same plate)…………I had to try it, and  it’s actually good, the food is beautiful,  and at least everything I had (except for one of the desserts) was delicious, not mind-blowing delicious but delicious.

The place is nice,  service was excellent, and here are the pics……

Bar Garnishes in pretty sunlight

Spiced Beets with pork fried almonds

Bone Marrow pistachio, cured lemon, bread crumbs, bacon

Chocolate Tart olive oil, sea salt gelato

The nutella cookies images  are not available because I ate them before even thinking about the camera :)  (we all know which dessert I liked better now)

Dinner at La Capital (Mexico City)

Last week I went with my friends to “La Capital”  it’s like a modern version of a mexican cantina in Mexico City (Nuevo Leon 137,  La condesa), and It was pretty good,  to be honest I wasn’t expecting their food to look that good,  but it did, so I had to take some photos, and here they are!

Fideo Seco con Aguacate

Shrimp Tacos

Guanabana Dessert

Thanks to my friend Javier for this great dinner and the amazing time we had!!!

Best Grilled Cheese ever for my b-day!

Dear Grilled Cheese:  I LOVE YOU!!!!

Grilled Manchego, Murcia, Valdeón and goat cheese with truffle oil, on rustic bread, served with honey alioli.

How can you go wrong with grilled cheese?? fatty, melted, delicious!! but Jaleo takes it to a new level, their grilled cheese is just…….. PERFECT!! and it is not just the grilled cheese, which is really good by itself but together with that honey alioli ……….. Its the best thing EVER!  It feels just like that scene from ratatouille when he tastes the cheese and the strawberry and the brother is like WTF,  remember??  well…… it was something like that!

That was my birthday lunch along with white sangria, wich is pretty good too.

White Sangria

And last but of course not least, Mr. Dessert……… rich, chocolatey, creamy texture, with a little candle!!! :)

Make a wish and blow the candle!!

The best way to finish that lunch!!

That night we had dinner at Mandu, and  I like everything I’ve tried from their menu so far, plus those sojutinis are  great!

Egg dipped fried Zucchini

duru jjigeemarinated and spiced pork belly sauteed w/kimchi and rice cakes, served with steamed tofu

And that was my happy Birthday!!
